ΠΡΟΟΡΙΣΜΟΙ

Φαράγγι Αγίας Ειρήνης

Το μονοπάτι στο φαράγγι της Αγίας Ειρήνης, ξεκινάει λίγο νοτιότερα από το χωριό Αγία Ειρήνη (περίπου 20 χιλιόμετρα βόρεια της Σούγιας). Πανέμορφη διαδρομή δίπλα στα νερά του Αγιερηνιώτη ποταμού με σκιά στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος της κάτω από πλατάνια, πεύκα και πικροδάφνες.

Λισσός

Η Λισσός υπήρξε σημαντική πόλη της Κρήτης που χρονολογείται μεταξύ του 4ου αιώνα π.Χ. έως τον 7ο με 9ο αιώνα μ.Χ., όταν εγκαταλείπεται μετά την καταστροφή της από ισχυρό σεισμό που έπληξε την Κρήτη. Στην αρχαιότητα ήταν γνωστή για το περίφημο Ασκληπιείο της, όπου θεραπεύονταν ασθενείς από όλη την Κρήτη χάρη στα ιαματικά νερά της περιοχής.

Η Σπηλιά του Πολύφημου

Πρόκειται για σπήλαιο που παρουσιάζει ομοιότητες με το σπήλαιο όπου κατοικούσε ο Κύκλωπας Πολύφημος, που ήταν ανθρωποφάγος γίγαντας με ένα μάτι, όπως περιγράφει ο Όμηρος στην Οδύσσεια.

Άγιος Αντώνης

Η πρόσβαση στην παραλία μπορεί να γίνει με βάρκα. Εναλλακτικά, μπορεί να γίνει με πεζοπορία 2 ωρών από τη Σούγια, ακολουθώντας το μονοπάτι Ε4. Δίπλα στην παραλία και ανάμεσα στα πεύκα υπάρχει το γραφικό εκκλησάκι του Αγίου Αντωνίου, από όπου παίρνει το όνομα της. Ο Άγιος εορτάζει κάθε χρόνο στις 1-2 Ιουλίου, όπου και γίνεται μεγάλο πανηγύρι στην παραλία.

Εκκλησία Αγίας Ειρήνης

Επισκεφτείτε το βυζαντινό εκκλησάκι της Αγίας Ειρήνης. Είναι μια μικρή αλλά πανέμορφη εκκλησία, σταυροειδής με ορθογώνια αρχιτεκτονική και με ένα ψηλό κυλινδρικό θόλο στο κέντρο. Η θέα, η ομορφιά και η γαλήνη του τοπίου θα σας αποζημιώσουν.

Κουστογέρακο

Το Κουστογέρακο είναι μικρό ορεινό χωριό, 10 χιλιόμετρα από την παραλιακή Σούγια. Λίγο πριν τη Σούγια ξεκινά ο ανηφορικός δρόμος γεμάτος στροφές που ανεβαίνει στα Λευκά Όρη και οδηγεί πρώτα στο Λειβαδά και μετά στο Κουστογέρακο, που βρίσκεται σκαρφαλωμένο 500 μέτρα πάνω στα Κρητικά βουνά. Το τοπίο είναι χαρακτηριστικό της νότιας περιοχής του Νομού Χανίων: ορεινό με ψηλά βουνά και βαθιά φαράγγια. Οι πλαγιές είναι κατάφυτες με πεύκα και κυπαρίσσια και το βλέμμα αγκαλιάζει την κοιλάδα πριν τη Σούγια και τις απέναντι βουνοκορφές.
